Judge L G Worstell grants a TRO in an injunction suit against eighty one United Mine Workers officers and members alleging intimidation and disruption at the Luhrig mine. He allows a six person picket group under strict rules and schedules further hearing for Monday.
Miners remain at Luhrig mine near Athens with picketing day and night. Seven families comprising sixteen men six women and six children reportedly came from Pittsburgh Coal Co. but plant officials deny inviting anyone. Workers left by auto after union urges to depart. No verified word on armed guards or injunction filing. tents planned for continuous picketing.
July 21 report from Middleport notes an unusual incident as a street car was dragged down a road rather than on tracks using blocks and tackle to move it. The car was shuttled to the lower sector to aid circus crowds traveling to and from Pythian park.

NEW LEXINGTON A closed stretch between New Lexington and Crooksville, causing a two mile detour, is reopened allowing travel between New Lexington and Zanesville.
Acting on a Muskingum county common pleas court order the Zanesville Coal company number 6 will be offered for public sale on the premises near McLaney east of here on August 15.

New York July 21 A national hookup of major radio stations will broadcast the Dempsey Sharkey fight from Yankee Stadium starting at 8 30 tonight. Graham McNamee and Phillips Carlin will alternate at the microphone to describe the bout.

Nelsonville July 21 The power plant of the Mon day Coal company in Hocking county was destroyed by fire in the morning. The loss is estimated at from 3 000 to 5 000. The fire was discovered by G E Fisher the mine s watchman about 3 o clock He said a pin was fired at the plant earlier and this is the second attempt to stop the mine from operating. The mine operates on a cooperative basis and had resumed June 7 after a shutdown. Merrell Green is president Wilson Green and Pete Dupler officers. Deputy Sheriff L F Hammon is investigating the origin of the fire.
A missing man from the Hobson area, Edwin Edwards, vanished in 1926 after a mining job in Ellsworth Pennsylvania. A National Lodge investigation traced him to a mine near Ellsworth, and a death by freight train in Monongahela City was reported. An undertaker holds his body for identity, with burial planned in Cheshire Cemetery using a $500 Junior Order life insurance payout.
Oliver Hartley reports from Middleport that the fate of 27 year old Harry Edwards is resolved as his body lies in a grave near Monongahela City, Pennsylvania. The article notes Edwards disappeared in February 1926.
Col. T B Pattison announced the Chesapeake and Hocking Railway project linking Pike and Franklin counties will finish by Sept 1 to Sept 12.
