Logan reports George Notestone shot in the leg while fleeing after officers found his 30 gallon still and six barrels of mash at South Perry. Notestone has prior liquor offense records and faces a third offense charge.
Three Civil War veterans, last survivors of Minnesota’s Last Man's club, gathered at Stillwater for what may be their final annual banquet. Only Peter Sull of Atwater, Charles Lockwood of Chamberlain, SD, and John Gaff of St. Paul attended, with 31 chairs empty and one draped for Emil Graft of St. Cloud, Fla., who died since last year.
Fort Worth, Texas July 20 Rev Dr J Frank Norris built a vast church through a stormy career. His sermons spurred a mass following after he shot and killed D E Chipps during a dispute in Norris study. Norriss battles at Dallas and Fort Worth churches led to harsh confrontations and a long public feud.
The Messenger reports the death Wednesday of Mrs. Amanda Sayers of Chauncey and Mrs. Elizabeth M. Mees of Pomeroy. Sayers, mother of nine, was active recently at age eighty nine, helping with cooking and gardening despite frail health. Mees died July 6.

George Psilias known as “the Greek” was released from jail after authorities could not file charges linking him to the Canton Daily News editor’s death.
Charles Keehne an employee of the Phode Transfer company was injured when struck by a car driven by Mrs. Cray of Athens. Keehne stepped from the curb as a truck passed and was hit, suffering bruises to his side and leg though not in serious condition.
