The Herbert library reopened in the former Post Office Building on West Main St in McArthur serving Vinton County residents. It moved from the Memorial building on N Market St and now has room for all volumes in one room. Trustees say the upgraded quarters provide better service with stacks displays lighting and a private cataloging repair area. The library pays $25 monthly rent to the village for the new space.

Power Outage After Storm Paralyzes Vin ton County
A violent electrical storm cut power to Vin ton County and Well ston for 42 minutes Saturday night. An automatic oil switch at the Berlin substation failed, knocking out the 69 000 volt line transformer stepdown. Line crew restored service to McArthur Hamden and rural areas north of Jackson.

Two youths steal pickup and tools then abandon vehicle
McArthur reports two boys from Zaleski Youth Camp stole a Prattville man’s pickup and his carpentry tools. The pair, Charles Littler 15 of Columbus and Ronald Jones 18 of Dayton, were recaptured in Auglaize County. the truck was not yet recovered in the Sheriff’s view.

Resurfacing 8.90 miles of Route 50 in Harrison and Richland Townships. 4.74 miles of Route 327 in Harrison Township. 4.38 miles of Route 677 in Elk and Madison Townships. 0.45 miles of Route 677 in the village of Zaleski.

Floydpe land Hamden barber with a 65 year career retires cutting hair. Copeland aged 81 will lease his shop to Gene Foreman, a former Hamden resident and barber college graduate.
