Explosion at munitions plant leaves two dead
Two men were killed and several others injured in an early morning explosion at a unit of the Virginia Ordnance Works in Glen Wilton near Clifton Forge. The Reverend Father Alexander Farrell age 32 pastor of St Sylvester’s Zaleski and St John’s Lodi died Sunday in Sheltering Arms Hospital after a heart ailment. He was ordained in May 1933 for the Columbus Diocese by Bishop James Joseph Hartley. He is survived by his mother Mrs Margaret Farrell. A solemn high mass will be offered Wednesday at 10 o’clock at St Sylvester’s Church with services led by Rev Father William G Dowd and attended by a clergy procession, ending with absolution by Bishop Hartley.
