Publicans meet August 1 1982 to nominate Recorder Surveyor Commissioner and Infirmary Director. Polls open 1 PM to 7 PM in various townships with supervisors and central committee members elected for a one year term. Voters must be qualified Republicans residing in their township precinct.
Mrs Addie Bean of Marietta visited sister Mrs Wm Gabriel with daughter Estella. Mrs Hattie Bean of Portsmouth spent time with her parents and sister Ida, returning home Saturday. Mr Geo Cabeen closed his term of school at Floodwood last Friday. Mrs Zeruia Richmond, an elderly resident, fell but is improving. The Mite Society for Peoples Church meets at Alfred and Mrs Morrison’s next Saturday evening. Sunday school began at White Hall on the 9th with good attendance. Mr E P Young of Athens visited old acquaintances Sunday afternoon. Mrs Emma Griffin returned from Zanesville after a prolonged visit. Mr and Mrs Jasper Carsey and son Lewis visited here Sunday. Loren Bendure, from Buckeye machine shops in Salem, plans a visit to his parents David and [last name unclear].

Rev J W McMaster delivers two sermons. Prof L C Crippen lectures on Education at Universalist Church. Crippen and family vacation with J R Crippen. C D Smith Jr plans to buy wheat cash at the highest price and has a carload of salt. P M.
Rev Mr Armstrong returns from protracted visit at Zanesville. Mr and Mrs Wm King back from Camden visit. Mr Yocum returns home from Stewart to aid sick mother Mrs Gossage. A group spends a pleasant Sabbath school afternoon at Faris schoolhouse. Farmers near New England stack wheat starting Monday. Leroy Vore is very ill.
Mrs Yocum Davis and Foster of Dig Run and funnel Washington county travel to care for Mrs Cossage who is convalescing. Many neighbors visit, and local figures make brief trips here and there amid health improvements and small-town happenings.
