Millett Proposal Studied OU Faces Negative Reception

Ohio University officials expect a detailed response to Millett's financing plan by month end. The six hour July 3 meeting produced near unanimity against the proposal which would cut two year tuition to 150 and raise four year costs to 400 with a state loan fund. OU President Sowle cautioned on possible drastic effects including campus closings and dorm overbuilding while calling for state financing of higher education. He noted enrollment trends and potential litigation over campus disorders law, plus plans to demolish Ewing Hall and Berry Hall or relocate Berry offices.
