Nelsonville York Grange 2496 met Friday evening with Mrs Elsie Weaver presiding. Reports came from committees and a special meeting was announced for Friday July 29 to confer the third and fourth degrees on candidates who could not attend earlier. A quiz was given during the lecturer period and refreshments for 35 members were served.

Nelsonville driver Frank L. Lowry pled guilty to speeding and passing another vehicle without assured clear distance ahead. He was fined $10 and costs by Mayor Earl Hilleary after entering the plea Monday.
G Kaine of Center Line Mich pleaded guilty in County Court to crossing a yellow center line in a no passing zone. He was fined $10 and costs. Adkins is listed as from Center Line, Mich.
Notices show petitions to adminster Burl Cotterman estate and Homer Mechling estate. Probate filings include wills for Velma Hite and Raymond Bingham, a partition writ in Sheets v Sheets, and actions in common pleas court. Civil, divorce and property matters involve Central Silica Co excavation permit, road realignment, and multiple marriage licenses and transfers.
Funeral services for Sue Ellen Warren, age four days, were held at 2 pm conducted by Rev. John Evans. Burial followed at Green Lawn Cemetery. The Warrens have no other children.
Three juveniles were questioned by Patrolman Max Valkinburg after owner of Nelsonville Fruit Market reported a late Saturday night break in and a second incident Sunday. Missing items included candy, chewing gum, and soda. part of the gum and candy were later recovered. The earlier break involved cutting and lifting a wire at the front of the fruit stand.
The X Ray unit will tour Athens County with stops at the Rome Store on W Columbus Street from 11 to 1 and at Glouster Clinic from 3 to 9. Additional visits include Nelsonville on July 25 and 26 in Sebring and Dew Hotel Public Square with times 10-12 and 1-4. Other locations and dates follow in York Township and Sylvania Plant with similar hours.

A Miller of Nelsonville, catcher for the Long Treth team, was hurt Sunday when struck by a pitched ball near the side. He was reported in factory condition at Mount Mary hospital awaiting X ray results. Earlier years ago he suffered a fractured leg in a prior incident.
Friends may call at any time at the home. Burial will be in Green Cemetery following funeral services tomorrow for Merrel Green who passed away recently.
Mother Lidwina writes a farewell note praising hospital staff and the public for cooperation. She hopes the next administrator named around August 5 will be warmly received and asks for continued mutual support and prayers.
