Security in doubt after Bastille Day attack in Nice

France faced criticism over security as a 19 ton truck rammed through Bastille Day crowds on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. About 84 killed, 120 police and soldiers deployed. authorities say security was reinforced though critics say the perimeter may have been insufficient. The attacker Mohamed Bouhlel, 31, had a petty-crime record and was not on a radicalization watch list. The IS group claimed responsibility while France widens emergency measures amid political tensions and upcoming elections.

Arrest in theft from unmarked Ohio police car

Craig Stewart, 34, is charged with two counts of felony theft after surveillance video linked him to the theft of an M16 rifle a handgun and two ballistic vests from an unmarked Columbus police car on West Broad Street. He allegedly sold the guns and body armor for 500 and 2 grams of heroin. No other arrests announced.
