Egg prices hit 10 year lows as production outpaces demand
In Des Moines Iowa eggs have fallen to the cheapest prices in a decade as production rebounded from bird flu losses. Demand has sagged as bakeries and nations reduce and replace egg use with substitutes, while producers restock flocks and prices wobble between 50 and 98 cents a dozen. Local bakeries say shortages and high retail costs during shortages gave way to excess supply and risk of further price dips.
