Local Voters Turn Down School Bond Issue in Gallia County

Southwestern Local School District voters rejected a one mill bond and a half mill tax levy for a new elementary school and upgrades to Perry and Mudsock buildings. The defeat, 241 to 462, comes after a similar failure in May. If approved, $108,000 would have matched $237,000 in state funds. The board will focus on repairs until standards are met, with Aug. 4 designated for the next session.
