City Protests B and O Q Stop Removal From National Limited
Athens will protest the B and O railroad removing the city as a stop for the National Limited after the City Council granted Mayor Franz Woodworth authority to send a protest letter. The move follows the 9:38 fast train stop being discontinued after 23 years to cut time between St. Louis and New York, with Ohio University students and area residents affected. The council also reported stalled Valley Greyhound Bus Company talks for a new station and cab stand overcrowding concerns led by three taxi firms, plus appropriations of funds for the Recreation Fund and summer program. A Constitution Lodge meeting will confer Master Mason degree Thursday evening.

Credit Inflation Presented To Athens Rotarians
Athens National Bank vice president Thomas M. Wolfe told Athens Rotary members that what they are experiencing is credit inflation. He said inflation stems from excess money relative to goods, that price controls address only symptoms, and that confidence in money keeps the burst from occurring. He traced inflation to government policy, war or revolution, noting 16 years of both in the nation and outlining a three stage process from debt to rapid price rises to explosive money devaluation.
