Rehabilitation of Water Works System Proposed in Nelsonville
Nelsonville council heard a Burgess & Niple plan proposing complete rehabilitation of the municipally owned water system at an estimated 175000 to 180000 dollars with WPA participation. Reported Monday night, the plan outlines five major points including sourcing from Hocking River, construction of treatment works, meter installation, main extensions, and valve renewal. The report recommends River water use with iron removal and softening, new plant placement on the north bank, and financing via mortgage revenue bonds to be paid from earnings. Council referred the report for further study and will assess impacts on the light plant and overall costs.
