A joint legislative investigating committee in Athens County held a public hearing at 9 in the Athens Court House. Members questioned airfield cost estimates including a claimed $50,000 and an early estimate of $10,000 with concerns over food relief allocations and distribution in Nelsonville and nearby towns.
Julius Sweitzer aged 60 and his 86 year old wife spent their honeymoon in Erie Pennsylvania after escaping Corry where resentment over their marriage intensified by an accidental killing two days earlier. Lawrence Field was shot by Guy King son of the bride mistaking Field for Sweitzer in the fatal incident.
In Mason City a car and a dog collided after a hard brake screech. The vehicle overturned and Mabel Christensen sustained a leg gash needing five stitches. The dog escaped uninjured, ran half a block, then paused to scratch a flea.
The Women's Auxiliary and K. T. Crossen Post No. 21 of the American Legion held a joint meeting Monday at the Legion Home. John DeMolet led the discussion in the absence of auxiliary president Nellie Brooks Griswold and ill commander M. C. Morrison. Attendees planned finances for redecorating the Home and enjoyed a social hour with bingo and refreshments. First prize went to Mrs. Floyd Hutchings and Miss Louretta Collins. second and third prizes to Mrs. Tom Rosser.

Suspect named William Dainard, linked to the George Weyerhaeuser kidnapping, is sought on bank robbery charges in four western Washington cities.
