Red Cross Trains Hundreds Yearly in Athens County
The Athens County Red Cross Chapter uses a $150 monthly Community Chest grant to train hundreds annually in first aid and veterans claims, while raising most funds through Red Cross memberships. It coordinates layettes, furniture drives, and medical aid, and works with veterans to secure pensions and hospitalization, including four lump settlements totaling 1303 dollars in January. The chapter runs classes for first aid, life saving, swimming, and home hygiene, and serves as Traveler's Aid Society HQ during fairs and large events.
