Athens Chapter of Business and Professional Women guests of Mrs Kimes and Mrs Roberts at a secluded log cabin near Albany. Potluck supper on the veranda followed a brief meeting led by Miss Leona Hughes. Plans were made for a swimming party and hamburger gathering at the next meeting on July 2 with Mrs Irma Jagera as committee chair.

Mr and Mrs William Skinner announce the arrival of daughter Janet Louise Skinner at their home 77 West Washington Street. The birth occurred on Saturday June 29.
The Metropolitan Insurance Company will hold a district picnic on Saturday and Sunday July 13 and 14 at the camp of Mr and Mrs H F Cokenougher in Stockport. Agents and their families from Chillicothe Lancaster Logan Jackson Washington Court House Greenfield and Athena will enjoy fishing and bathing.
The Women Auxiliary and the American Legion will hold a joint meeting Monday at 7 30 PM at the Legion Home. Local leaders invite members to attend and discuss post activities and community service plans.
Mr and Mrs Dennis Ours announce the birth of a son on Sunday July 7 at Sheltering Arms Hospital. The infant is named Dennis E Ours Jr Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Marion Ours of Le Tart Falls Ohio and Mr and Mrs William Mertz of Athens.
The Women's Auxiliary of the Hibbardsville Fresbyterian Church on the Athens Albany road holds an ice cream special tonight. Home made ice cream cake chicken sandwiches and coffee will be served.
The Clarks Chapel Ladies Aid will host an ice cream social on the church lawn this evening. Proceeds will support church programs and neighborly outreach in the community.
The Christian Church women hosted an ice cream social at Mrs. E. L. Church home drawing up to 300 attendees. From 5 30 p m to 9 p m many cakes and hundreds of plates of ice cream were served with Rev E J Downs and other church members assisting. The event plus its financial results were hailed as a social and financial success.

Ten members of the Epworth League from Central Avenue M E Church depart Saturday for the Epworth League Institute at Lancaster Camp Grounds. Chaperons are Mrs O C Duh and Mrs Frank Beebe. Camp runs July 15 to 19 with lectures and classes. Members paid their own registration.
