City Council Faces Street and Sewer Fund Shortfall

The city council notes the service fund for streets and sewers is short of money. With about 3,000 for six months, 1,836 went to the Light Plant, leaving roughly 1,200 for streets and sewers. $300 was allotted to sewers, plus 1,500 in sewer bonds planned to be sold, adding 1,800 for sewers. The Panama Canal project on West State street is expected to be paid by F. C. Stedman Grocery Co. and contractor W. S. Bowers. A sanitary sewer shares the ditch with the storm sewer with tile and laying supplied by the city, otherwise costs will hit sewer funds.
