Eccentric Swiss Civil War Vet Wanders Northward from Georgia

An 82 year old Swiss veteran, Hudolf Frieburg, born in Luzerne Switzerland, born in Illinois? and serving in the Fourth Missouri Infantry, travels by foot from Georgia to the north. He carries two or three testaments, a haversack with food and cooking gear, a large axe, and a tent. He budgets no money, seeks only solitude, and relies on divine guidance and the Bible. He keeps walking in all weather, sleeping outdoors, and rejects trains and other conveyances. His movement follows seasons, north in spring and summer, south in autumn, and he is currently in Athens awaiting a pension check.
