An Athens County woman, Isabelle Fore, 44, was killed by a shotgun blast while seated in her car at the Spanish Maine truck stop on Route 50E near Athens. Her estranged husband Denver Fore, 50, was jailed after a trailer arrest and faces a first degree murder charge with a preliminary hearing set for Wednesday.
Ground crews at five major carriers Eastern, National, Northwest, Trans World and United have walked out, halting air travel nationwide. Negotiators met for a joint session but reported no progress on a settlement beyond wage disputes.
The Associated Press reports tornadoes, lightning, and high winds caused widespread outages and property damage in western and central Ohio. Three deaths were linked to the storm: Robert Habel of Kettering electrocuted by a downed line, and Frederick Stokes and Robert Sprinkle of North Lewisburg drowned when their boat capsized on Lake Erie.
