Ohio Fluoridation and Pay Raise Bills Move Out of Committee

Ohio legislators advanced two controversial measures. The Senate Finance Committee approved a 29.5 million state employee pay raise bill, while the House Health and Welfare Committee approved a fluoridation bill with two amendments. The pay raise measure faced a failed 38 million cost amendment and political pressure from both parties amid union warnings. The fluoridation bill may allow local referendums after 90 days and lets local governments bill the state health department for installation costs.
