Army board investigates the death of Master Sergeant Dana W. Gire 23 of Chillicothe Ohio found dead with a 45 caliber service revolver near a supply building at Pine Camp Cantonment Watertown New York. Gire enlisted in 1939 after high school graduation.
John L. Collyer of B. F. Goodrich announced a tubeless pneumatic tire for heavy vehicles. The design uses a locking member to retain air and eliminates inner tubes and flaps, delivering a significant rubber saving.
