New York stock activity cooled after two strong sessions with gains near levels not seen since last January. Brokers cite inflation talk and profit taking, yet Dun and Bradstreet shows bank clearings up 33.9 percent year over year. Construction awards reach a record $298.7 million, per Engineering News-Record.
Grain and produce prices from Toledo and Pittsburgh show mixed movements in wheat corn and oats with eggs butter and poultry also reported. The record includes bids for Athens reservoir materials and a detailed Ohio partition suit with multiple defendants and a August 2 1941 deadline.
Chase Circle of Ruth met at Mrs. Alberta Woodyard’s home on Thursday July 3 with a potluck for 16 members and visitors. A short program was given by the children and a shower was held for Mrs. Pauline Martin. Next meeting at Mrs. Lola Goonin’s home.
