A collision on State Route near the Mulligan farm south of Athens injured multiple people including a school teacher with scalp lacerations and others from Gallipolis Zanesville and Athens. The car overturned after hitting a berm as Miss Freeman drove towards Zanesville. An acting physician reported back injuries and treated victims at the scene and hospital.
Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh and his wife were forced down by fog on a flight from New York toward Greenland and landed safely in South Warren Maine. The red monoplane suffered no damage as fog lifted later, after a day of tense waiting and a close mid air incident with a news plane.

Theodore A. Holmes, 20, of Winsted Connecticut and former Antioch College student, confessed to being with Nora Coffey 24 Springfield when she was shot near Gees Station Greene County on May 13. He said Coffey demanded money, a pistol appeared, a struggle followed, and the body was dumped into the Little Miami River. He was returned to Springfield by Sheriff George W. Benham and held in Clark County Jail.
A Dayton crash on July 10 left six people dead when a car was struck by a Cincinnati and Lake Erie traction car at Franklin Ohio. Coroner Waldron Gilmour ruled the collision unavoidable. The auto occupants were Vernon Bogan 50 driver. Norma 26. Albert Rickey 18 and wife Carrie 16. Margaret Reed 40. Mildred Bogan 10. All but Mildred lived in Dayton. she resided in Middletown.
Fire swept the south wing of the Illinois capitol causing about 100000 in damage and threatening the repeal convention in the House chamber. Governor Henry Horner entered the building directing protection of portraits of Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas at the entrance to the representatives' chamber.
Alonzo Parsey 75 died at noon today at the home of Mr and Mrs Hoyt McAfee 195 N Lancaster Street where he resided. He had been ill for some time and was born in Hebbardsville. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

A clash at Scottown in Lawrence County left Harlow Dailey dead from a stab wound and five others injured. Dailey, 22, was en route to a hospital in Dr. J. W. Mayberry’s car when it collided with another vehicle. The other injured were Doctor Mayberry, Bert Lewis, Bill Daron, Bill Hayes and Franklin Dailey. An autopsy attributed the death to the stab wound.

Melvin Barber 26 of Carbondale and Geraldine Stevens 21 of Carbondale obtained a marriage license in probate court. Both parties are described as children of their respective fathers, Mr. George Barber and Mr. Charles Stevens.
