Ohio University instructors raft Mississippi trip ends in doubt

Three Ohio University English instructors Loren Davidson Robert Hogan and John Violette rafted from Hannibal Missouri to Huffman Arkansas following Mark Twain inspired notes. They faced current wind jams and collisions with tugs and barges logging 470 river miles in fourteen days before abandoning the raft. They plan further study of journals and possible articles or a book. The experiment shows Twain romanticized the river though the voyage proved adventurous.
