Rainy Athens Fourth of July Parade With Rescue Horses

Despite showers, Bella Run Equine co founder Rachel Bendler led three rescued horses along Court Street in a planned mini parade. The horses Smoke Roy Trisken Emmett and Adelaide wore Liberty Eagle and Uncle Sam costumes as fans applauded in the rainy Fourth of July mood. The group planned the ride after many hours of costume making and saw positive reception from onlookers. Bendler said the event could become a rainy Fourth tradition for the community.
