Britain ready to draw a line at Danzig and fight future Nazi expansion by force or threat. Government plans test air-force mobilization, dispatch RAF planes to France, and seek 500 million dollars in export credits to bolster security fronts.
Three Kanawha County men face charges of forging relief checks totaling over 10 000 dollars. A W Wakeman 60 Charleston is jailed on 5 000 bond. John E Burchett 35 and Del Sloan both of Charleston pool room operators posted 5 000 bond each and await grand jury action. Wakeman and Burchett signed full confessions. Sloan charged as an accomplice. Burchett and Wakeman were employees of the public assistance council.
Washington Pa. hospital attaches reported that 16 year old Albert Bailey Jr recovered consciousness after a wreck in which nine rode in a car. The crash followed the auto’s exit from a side road onto a through highway and was struck by a heavy bus killing seven others and injuring several more.
One hundred and forty eight organizations will receive sales tax redemptions totaling $1,159.65 on applications dated June 15 to July 5, per Tax Commissioner William S. Evatt. The state pays three percent of the face amount of the prepaid tax receipts presented for redemption.
Sandusky up manager G. J. Griswold reported a new record of 26 258 cars crossing the Bay Bridge from Saturday night through July 4.
Dr. William E. Thompson, the nation’s oldest practicing physician, celebrated his 104th birthday in bed at Bethel. He is recovering from arthritis but remains active with a large practice and shows no retirement plans. His son, a dentist, died last March at 80.
Former President Herbert Hoover charged that Franklin D Roosevelt's foreign policy risks U.S. entry into war by aligning with European power politics. He warned against foreign propaganda inflaming emotions and urged a strong national will to stay neutral.
Cleveland sheriffs and detectives questioned a 52 year old bricklayer held in a rooming house in the district where two torso murder victims were found. Officials said the probe into the four year old cases made its first progress in months as they took neighbors statements.
In Upper Darby Pennsylvania two men were reported in serious condition after an incendiary bomb was thrown into a beauty shop. The blast caused a fire that threatened the business district and was linked to protection racketeering.

A car carrying seven people including two babies collided with a 12 ton milk truck near Daleville. Wilbert Francis and Thomas Bechemdorn plus Grace Bechemdorn Verna Embro and Esther Whitebread died. Jean Johnson survived in critical condition. Driver Childs Cooper escaped with scalp injuries.
Columbus Ohio. The attorney general will seek a rehearing today in the Ohio Supreme Court on its decision that provisional state employees must be discharged by the same procedure as permanent workers. Ruling not in effect until rehearing, while two related cases decided yesterday. Judges Hart and Mathias did not vote. five concurred, two dissented. Sept. 6 new civil service law may end the provisional status.
Juvenile court authorities ordered Mrs. Queenie Tippie and her three children to return to Athens Ohio for care by relief officials. Police had questioned Mrs. Tippie after her children and two of the Tippies were found locked in a third floor Cleveland rooming house room, unclothed.
Detroit unions called 3 760 workers from four General Motors plants as strikes expanded. The effect spread from yesterday to Fisher Body No 23, Chevrolet Gear and Axle, Chevrolet Experimental Factory in Detroit and Pontiac Fisher Body Plant in Pontiac, Michigan.
Governor John W. Bricker announced he will not undertake a planned journey to the west coast because he has too much work on hand. He said the decision was made today and cited a heavy workload as the reason.
WPA officials warned thousands of skilled workers who halted WPA projects to protest new hourly wages may be dropped from relief rolls within five days if they do not return. The strike spread to New York Milwaukee Cleveland and Ohio counties as unions consider action and Coshocton County holds a mass meeting to include all WPA workers in the stoppage.
President Roosevelt signs the monetary conference report restoring authority to devalue the dollar and reactivating the 2 billion dollar stabilization fund. The measure, after Senate approval amid a filibuster, also permits treasury purchases of foreign silver and sets domestically mined silver at 71.1 cents an ounce.
Delbert Motley 23 of Middleport faces a manslaughter charge after driving his car into seven year old William Perry north of Kanauga, killing him. Motley was arraigned before Magistrate Fred Milliser, questioned by sheriff’s officers and Prosecutor John Howell, who kept details confidential. Bond set at 4000. Motley held in Gallia County Jail awaiting grand jury action likely after September.
Uniontown Pennsylvania four workers were killed in a gas explosion caused by an acetylene torch used to demolish a coal mine fan house at Tower Hill No 1 near Republic. The blast scattered body parts and shattered nearby windows, likely from accumulated gases seeping through the shaft floor.
Herbert Hoover will receive the distinguished service award at the 37th international Christian Endeavor convention in Cleveland. He will deliver a nationally broadcast speech at 9 30 p.m. after an informal dinner in his honor.
Rep. Hamilton Fish of New York said he is holding in abeyance his decision on whether to become a candidate for the 1940 Republican presidential nomination.

Welfare Director Charles L. Sherwood and Governor Bricker will meet next week to discuss selecting a new warden for the Ohio Penitentiary. The announcement came today.

The Judiciary Committee split seven to seven on Burke’s six year term proposal and sent it to the Senate without recommendation. It gives the full chamber a chance to discuss a possible third term for President Roosevelt. The panel also reported a constitutional amendment for a national referendum before war declarations. Burke, Nebraska Democrat, promotes a Roosevelt third term.
Mrs Elza McCall 39 of Carpenter died at Sheltering Arms Hospital after a long illness. Survived by husband and three children Thelma Carlos and Robert. Funeral at Carpenter Baptist Church Friday at 2 pm conducted by Rev Strickland. Burial Hebbardsville Cemetery. Friends may call at the McCall home Ohio Experiment Station Carpenter.
Five men and a girl boarded the Pandora for a 24,000 mile Arctic voyage to be the first to navigate the Northwest Passage from west to east. Roald Amundsen previously completed the passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific between 1903 and 1906.

Columbus Ohio WPA payroll cuts to reduce rolls from 200 000 to 186 700 by July 11, 1935. State Administrator Carl Watson announced the plan to drop more than 13 000 workers.
