United Press reports on July 4 fatalities nationwide with at least 408 deaths from accidents. Auto crashes killed 207, drownings 111, five from airplane crashes, and 78 from other incidents. Safety campaigns and fireworks restrictions contributed to the lower toll.

Carrollton deputy sheriff Dr. D. C. Bakes says Heber L. Hicks altered his account since questioning in the death of Harry R. Miller former Cincinnati fire captain whose dismembered body pointed to a brutal murder. Bakes obtained warrants charging Hicks and Flora Miller 66 sister of the victim with murder and said evidence supports issuance. He believes Miller was killed in Kentucky.
Siamese twins joined at the head were born to Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Glick in a Michigan City hospital. The larger baby, weighing five and a half pounds, died 15 minutes after birth. A delicate brain operation was planned for the surviving twin, weighing three and a half pounds, but the outcome was described as very doubtful.
Dr. Francis E. Townsend spent a day at his Long Beach home before continuing a national tour. He refused to amplify his claim that a peaceful uprising would compel Congress to accept his old age pension plan. He said leaders would present uprising plans at his organization's Cleveland convention next week.
The League of Nations assembly voted to lift economic penalties on Italy, ending the siege on Mussolini's government and allowing Italy to resume exports to league members. The vote also opens the possibility of loans to aid Ethiopia efforts and cover war costs.

Owensboro Kentucky Mrs Florence Thompson Daviess County sheriff and mother of four says she will personally oversee the execution of Rainey Bethea the 23 year old condemned for the rape murder of a 70 year old woman Bethea is to die July 31 in Louisville jail without a gallows in Owensboro she says one must be built in the city garage and she would perform the act if required while noting she could hire someone else or turn over the task to a volunteer but would not ask anyone to do it first she adds the job is in her line of duty and she is too busy to worry about it.
RIVERHEAD N Y Mrs Pauline V Rogers widow of Col Henry H Rogers lost her bid to challenge the 24 million dollar will of the late oil magnate. Surrogate Pelletreau ruled her January 13 1934 waiver lawfully obtained without fraud or misrepresentation. The estate mainly goes to Peter Salm son of Rogers daughter Millicent Balcom.
The drought expands from the northwest into five states as crops fade east of the Dakotas. University of Minnesota experts warn of critical crop losses without rain this week. About 40 000 farmers may work WPA jobs on road and irrigation projects to stave poverty amid widespread destitution and $100 000 000 in damage.

Mrs. Mary Ross Hanning died suddenly at her home at 11 Fern Street Sunday night after a stroke of paralysis. She leaves three children, Mrs. Fred Landis Mrs. Lenna Tucker and Emmitt Ross of Athens. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 PM at Jagers Funeral Home with burial at Ross Cemetery near New Marshfield. Friends may call tonight and until the funeral.
Chinese troops from Kwangsi clashed with Kweichow forces at Tuyun near Kweiyang. Casualties were not reported.
New York police and federal agents arrest five more suspects near New York during a holiday weekend as part of the $2 million Wall Street bond heist. The group faces charges under the national stolen property law after the recovery of two $100,000 Treasury notes in Grand Central Terminal. The caper now yields 16 arrests total with over $1 million recovered in bonds. Among the arrestees are Morris Reisner and Dave Burman, along with Benjamin Espy Jack Greenberg and Moe Sedway.
A milk train collided with the rear of a 11 car passenger train near North Eaton, injuring at least four. Passengers included Detroit Tigers stars Linwood Rowe Goose Goslin and Charley Gehringer en route to Boston for the All Star game. they were uninjured. Umpires Brick Owens and William Summers also aboard the passenger train escaped unhurt.
Seventeen relatives of Henry Iwers reopen a treasure hunt on an 880 acre farm near Tipton Iowa seeking 350000 in gold. Last week 212000 in securities and old currency were found in a shed. Iwers willed the estate to Louis and Mrs. Voss. relatives plan to contest the will claiming duress and may accuse the Voss family of neglect.
