Ohio Power Co. Boosts Wages Across Nonunion Workers

The Ohio Power Co. announced a 64 percent wage increase for all non union employees in power plants effective July 1, with a similar offer to union workers pending Wage Stabilization Board approval. A July 1 boost was already granted to union employees at Philo Tide and Windsor plants. Central division employees in Canton are CIO represented.

Middleport GI Admits Passing Forged Checks

Bus Collision Fatal to Eight near Winnipeg

Eight people died and about 20 were injured when a Winnipeg bound Greyhound bus crashed into the rear of a semi-trailer 14 miles south of Winnipeg. One injured passenger was listed as critical. The impact tore open the bus body and victims in the front rows were hardest hit. The truck carried machinery and metal goods.

Parkersburg Native Dies in Huntington Hotel Leap

Virginia Lavonne Greene 37 of Parkersburg West Virginia died after leaping from a ninth floor window at a Huntington hotel. A former Hollywood model who used crutches since a California car crash two years earlier had asked for a room high up minutes before her fall.
