General Ridgway proposed a preliminary three officer meeting by helicopter or jeep to set ground rules for cease fire talks with North Korean and Chinese commanders. The allied plan follows North Korean Premier Kim Il Sung and Peng Teh Hua with a tentative July 10 date for talks.
William N. Oatis testified in Frankfurt denying he took over an espionage network when named Prague AP bureau chief. He admitted others admitted spying as prosecutors prepare to call 11 witnesses including Czech writers and former AP staff.
Federal Judge Sylvester J. Ryan forfeited bonds totaling 80000 against four of 11 convicted American Communist leaders after they failed to surrender in court. FBI hunts began for Henry Winston Robert G. Thompson Gus Hall and Gilbert Green as seven others began serving prison terms while four others remain missing.
Senator Taft declared the Senate approved a strong price and wage control bill and accused President Truman of propaganda. Meat animals chicken milk pecans dry beans wheat and fresh vegetables led declines while overall food prices rose eight per cent from Q4 1950 to Q1 1951 and consumer food spending grew six per cent.

The Capital’s drastic transit strike moved toward possible settlement after 17 hours of talks. Cyrus S. Ching, federal conciliation director, announced the agreement subject to union ratification.
