Nationalism Seen as Threat to Peace by Scholar
Dr. E. B. Smith of Ohio University told the Athens Lions Club that nationalism remains the strongest force in the world, conflicting with internationalism and shaping power without peace. He noted the UN’s veto rule by Russia undermines its credibility but argued it is better than no organization at all. The speaker said Russia is an unsatisfied power seeking territory, while the United States’ nationalism grows with atomic prestige.
