Mother Charged With Baby Murder After Rescue

New Brunswick New Jersey July Mrs Blanche McCarthy wife of a Lancaster Pennsylvania transportation engineer John McCarthy was held in Middlesex jail on a murder charge for her 17 months old son Bernard found with gas in a room. Police recovered a note reading Blanche I am taking baby with me and asking his forgiveness. The baby died later in hospital as Mrs McCarthy regained consciousness and said she did not remember the events.

Ex-Sheriff Sentenced for Prohibition Act Conspiracy

Ernest Carr former Coshocton County sheriff was sentenced to 18 months in a federal penitentiary in Atlanta Ga by Judge Benson W Hough on charges of conspiracy to violate the National Prohibition Act. Mrs Alice Ells 74, a Champaign County hospital patient, is wounded after a family dispute, two bullet wounds may be fatal.

DES MOINES July 3 Near beer was tried in justice court and the verdict was not guilty. The case, brought by John Ro Hammond dry crusader, claimed the near beer contained alcohol and would foster youth taste for frat beer. The six jurors deliberated 20 minutes and acquitted the beverage. Hammond said he will appeal. Washington July 3 A Wall Street group helped draft Hoover debt plan at a Paris conference. Tokio Trip To Start Saturday

Rare Declaration of Independence copy on display in Philadelphia

In Philadelphia on July 3 the Free Library exhibited the rarest collection of documents about the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Paddle voyage stops at Cleveland after transcontinental run

Paddlers Rick Gren Hoorn Layoy and A.Phteng Chiesgayeti headed from Cleveland to complete a round-the-earth style voyage.
