Local Notes on Visits and Road Conditions in Athens County
Cambridge and Mr. Fred Hann of Zanesville hosted visitors. John Wright of Woodburn, Indiana, stayed with his sister Mrs. Homer Chapman, with friends from near McConnelsville joining him. The letter from BE M Poston cites poor road conditions to the Luhrig mine near Athens, noting it could only be reached by horse and carriage, paralleling a railroad line. New York investors praise the country but demand good roads.
