London choked by deadly smog remains under heavy restrictions as airports shut and ships wait in the Thames. Doctors urge indoors use masks while officials warn the fog’s concentration could match the 1952 crisis as British transport grinds to a halt.
Rowland Bishop a 44 year old Union County farmer who runs a 260 acre farm near Milford Center was named state fair manager by Agriculture Director Robert H. Terhune. Bishop had no formal application and replaces D Robert Jones who resigns February 14 amid criticism over costly entertainment and focus on agriculture.
Gov DiSalle secured 100000 dollars from the legislature to match federal funds for a comprehensive study of floods in Ohio's 18 major watershed areas. The project will be a cooperative venture of the Ohio Division of Water and the United States Geological Survey.
Ohio remains clearing and much colder with a low of 15 to 20. Saturday brings fair but cold weather with a high around 30.
