FBI shoots down hijacker after 10 hour airliner standoff
A stocky gunman hijacked a Mohawk Airlines jet from Albany to New York with a water cannon “bomb” and $200000 ransom. After landing the hijacker forced stewardess Eileen McAllister into a car. an FBI agent shot and killed Heinrich von George, 45, when he opened fire.

Three Prisoners Escape From Ohio Penitentiary
In Columbus Ohio three inmates escaped from the Ohio Penitentiary through the wall system. James Lewis was captured in Grandview after the others fled. The men identified are Gilbert Mannis Donald Ferdinand and James Lewis all serving multi year terms for murder assault robbery and bank robbery. The warden said they worked on a water pipe break and escaped via ventilating louvers a roof and a wall using a three strand rope.
