Spokane police pursue Fuaro Higashi after the partially clad body of 24 year old waitress Mrs. Dolores Naccarato is found decomposed in a hotel dining room trunk. Coroner I. B. Collins calls it a violent death as investigators search for the Japanese acquaintance. The aunt, Mrs. Kate Murphy, last heard from the victim six weeks ago. The trunk discovery occurred when hotel staff moved Mrs. Naccarato's belongings.

The Athens City Fire Department fought two gas fire incidents Sunday. A disconnected gas pipe at Lloyd Shingler’s apartment above the Athens Cash Feed Store on N Court St caused a fire with $10 damage. Later the home of L Miller at 73 Stimson Ave saw pantry walls ignite from a hot water heater burner, causing about $50 damage. Fire Chief FE R Laughlin reports.
In Steubenville region Roscoe Smith's Bergholz market saw a fatal shooting when Lester Downing 29 of Alliance died after a Tuesday intrusion by Downing and a companion. Sheriff Ray Long said Smith 75 shot Downing during the failed robbery attempt, marking a second similarly deadly event five years.
Henry P. Fletcher, chairman of the Republican National Committee, reached Cleveland to join leading Republicans for a planning session ahead of the party convention set for next June.

A New York federal grand jury indicted three corporations and four individuals on conspiracy to violate the Arms Embargo Act and to defraud customs. Indictments allege secret export of 15 machine guns in cases with airplanes to Bolivia amid the Chaco dispute, two counts each.
Governor Tal Madge a Democratic critic of the New Deal predicted the 1936 Democratic convention would not renominate President Roosevelt. He spoke at a Macon Grass Roots meeting with Joan Henry Kirby, Houston lumberman, agreeing on the principles to be enunciated and expecting Philadelphia to revert to the 1932 platform.
Congress overrode President Roosevelt's veto to enact immediate payment of the soldiers' bonus. The Senate approved 76 to 19 and the House had earlier voted 324 to 61, making the measure law.
