Athens group outlines plan for regional LGBTQ center
A diverse group of 30 to 40 LGBTQ community members and allies met at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Athens to discuss creating a regional LGBTQ center. They aim to form a 501 3 nonprofit, raise 525000, establish a facility or mobile unit, offer housing for youth, counseling, legal and medical services, and outreach across Athens County and surrounding areas. The OU LGBT Center and community members back the idea, with July target to open minimal services and fundraising via GoFundMe and a Facebook page.
