Athens passes ordinances authorizing defense suit and sewer project
The Athens Ohio city council enacts two measures. One authorizes the city solicitor to defend Athens in a common pleas court case number 23543 involving F Bean and Dwight Robin Zoning Inspector against the Board of Zoning Appeals. The second authorizes the service safety director to contract Evans Mechwart Ambleton Tilton for engineering sewer improvements in West Union 81 from Congress Street to the trunk sewer. Both ordinances take effect at the earliest lawful time.

Obituaries From Athens Area Honor Dr. Gerald Wilkinson
Funeral services for Dr. Gerald T. Wilkinson 75 retired Ohio University professor of romance languages are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday in North Baltimore Ohio. He died Monday en route to Sheltering Arms Hospital after illness at his residence 20 N May Ave. He taught at Wabash University Missouri and Columbia before joining Ohio University in 1920 retiring in 1960. Survivors include wife Geraldine son Phillip and siblings. He was active in Modern Language Association and AATF and authored several books.
