Ohioans Urge Soil Conservation Budget Increase
Two members of the House Appropriations Committee urged a tenfold boost for soil conservation on public lands. Representative Kirwan of Ohio and Representative Jensen of Iowa criticized the BLM for requesting 3 million dollars for soil conservation on range lands for the coming year. Kirwan urged at least 30 million dollars, noting the national income and soil and water’s role, and warning that current private and other lands spending of 300 million would be at risk if funds remain low.
