Luther McCarty an epileptic patient at Gallipolis State Hospital refused to return when his leave expired. Officers used tear gas bombs, including a large attic bomb, before McCarty surrendered and was returned to the hospital. Sheriff Cramer was injured by a thrown missile.

Federal Judge Murray Hulbert denied a Baltimore and Ohio bondholder Oscar Getz of Chicago a petition to appoint a receiver for the railroad.
