Ohio River search called off until flood subsides

Dragging and diving in the Ohio River near the Kanawha mouth will be halted until water falls to normal levels. Mason County and Gallia Civil Defense units with the Coast Guard spent hours probing for a large object they now believe is a cable pile rather than a car. Divers reported swift current and near zero bottom visibility, hindering efforts to recover seven missing persons and a car. A weekend search is planned if river conditions permit. three bodies have been recovered to date. Also, two Mason County men were charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and posted $500 bonds each for preliminary hearings.
