Round About Town Tales Of service and a bold wish to shoot
Pte William Goldsberry, a former McBee Company player from Athens, plans to keep shooting when returning from Italy. He writes to plant manager H Noble about meat, recalls his high school class, and mentions his family on House Street. He entered service in 1942 and went overseas in 1944. The piece also notes Uncle Sam’s appeal for Alaska teaching posts with salaries and duties, and a story about Pvt Raymond Lee who wrote to the White House hoping to do something big for a paralyzed girl, leading to a response from the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis and a future on a path toward mobility.
