River Freeze Extends From Eureka Dam To Antiquity
The Ohio River remains frozen from the Eureka Dam to Antiquity, a Meigs County village about 40 miles north. A pool stage is kept by dam manipulation, but below that point the water level is low due to frozen feeder streams. Dozens of people have crossed the ice along the Gallia County waterfront with no accidents. Warmer weather and no rain should melt the ice gradually with little damage, but rains could swell the river and threaten river properties.
