The $10000 Toothache That Only Bullets Could Stop
Lions at the El Monte farm faced a $10,000 toothache when Lucy the trained lion escaped during unloading. After a failed live capture, Mr. Gay shot Lucy to protect others, then killed a second aggressive lion to restore order. The keeper was injured, and the farm rallied to quiet the colony afterward.
