Judge S. M. Johnson probate judge of Athens County since 1921 died at 2:15 PM at his home 31 Elmwood Place after a three week illness. Born 1878 in Trimble he studied at Ohio University and Ohio Northern University graduating in law. He taught school then practiced in Athens for 15 years before election to probate court and was re elected four times. He served in the Ohio National Guard and World War I with the 872nd Infantry.
