Highways Body Plans Reform in Financing Columbus
Jan 22 reform aims to reorganize the state highways department to ensure continuous policy. State Highway Director George Schlesinger briefed the joint legislative committee on highways, estimating about 147 million dollars needed to finish Ohio’s road system. He broken down 100 million to complete 4,000 miles and 47 million to widen to eighteen feet, noting many roads are only eight to eighteen feet wide and that widening is now more critical than building new roads. 2,000 miles may not need paving for seventy years.
