Chicago reports the death of 16 month old Roger Lee Brodie, a Siamese twin who survived a 12 hour 40 minute head to head separation operation on December 17. He died after a prolonged coma with brain circulation impairment. His brother Rodney Dee Brodie has had two plastic procedures and faces more surgery while recovering but remains critical.
American airmen reported rotating clusters of red, white and green lights over Northern Japan near the Kurile Islands and Sakhalin. Intelligence says the sightings involved fighter crews and ground personnel, tracked on radar, and not reflections.
Two elderly sisters, Miss Margaret Farrell aged 68 and Miss Mary Farrell aged 62, were killed when struck at an intersection by a speeding hit-and-run automobile. The action, prompted by the Greater Cincinnati Milk and Ice Cream Dealers Association and five dairies, seeks to curb a strike that could affect about a third of local milk deliveries. The suit accuses wage arbitrator Benjamin O. Stoner of misconduct.
