Larry Harris, a former WVU basketball forward known for long range shooting, died when his car hit a bridge abutment on Interstate 79 near Fairmont. WVU forward Sam Oglesby was among those reporting the incident.

Iowa State Coach Johnny Majors is expected to be offered Georgia Tech's head football coach post within a week and likely accept. The Atlanta Constitution reports Majors plans a Tech visit after talks with Tech officials and confirmation from Iowa State President W. Robert Parks.
