Senator Reed Curbs Rotation in Fourth District Nomination
State Senator E. Ray Reed of Clay County plans to end the traditional rotation for the Republican nomination in West Virginia's Fourth District. The move challenges Mason Jackson and Roane counties' long standing rota, with Putnam and Clay set to nominate in recent years. Local leaders question the plan citing population equality and historic fairness. Clay, a coal and timber region with the smallest district population, would be drawn into the contest.
