Eighty Cabins First Built On Park Site
Gallipolis researchers seek the site of the famed eighty cabins built in 1790 to house Gallipolis pioneers. The stockaded four-row complex stood on the river bank near the northeast corner across from Judge W R White’s home. The plan calls for cornerstones if the plot is found, though records may be scarce as earliest structures vanished by 1804 when settlers moved to more substantial homes.
