19 Wrecks Reported In Snow
The Athens post of the State Highway Patrol logged 19 snow related accidents Monday with two injuries. Richard W. Saylor, 26, Guysville Route 1, broke a leg in a two car crash on Route 33 at Route 682 in Dover Two. Saylor pulled from Route 682 onto Route 33 into a car driven north by John W. Decker, 19, Murray City. Saylor cited for failure to yield. Charles Leach, 31, Athens Route 4, cited for conditional speed after his car slid on Rock Riffle Road and hit Besuden, 26, Hooper Street. Besuden sore neck and bruised chest. Leach had a lacerated nose. neither treated.

Edward T. Van Dyke was elected president of the Ewing Chapter Sons of the American Revolution at the annual meeting held at the Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Co. Officers named include John Evans first vice president James Halterman second vice president Foster Coe secretary and treasurer Raymond Lee genecologist Kenner Bush reporter and Dewey Goddard chaplain. Lee Evans and Coe to contact schools about a speaking contest set for April 23 with the Athens Kiwanis Club. A luncheon for Washington's Birthday is planned Feb 22 at The Ohio University Inn.

Grass Fire Threat Suppressed After Pleasant Hill Grass Burn
Richland area volunteers fought a grass fire on Pleasant Hill that blackened about a half acre after sparks from burning trash blew onto dry grass. Snow-covered hillsides Monday ended the immediate threat, with firefighters called at 1 15 p m Sunday.
