Nelsonville Faces Years of Bond and Tax Strain
Nelsonville officials warn that mounting bond obligations and fixed overheads for the city and school district, along with widespread delinquencies, will challenge finances for three to four years. The 15 mill limit caps tax receipts at about 75 000 for all purposes, with extra mills possible only by voter approval. The sinking fund absorbs about 14 000 annually, leaving limited room to cover salaries and operations amid growing debt.
